Farmworker Awareness Week, observed annually from March 25th to the 31st, is a time to recognize and appreciate the 2.6 million men, women, and children working across the United States to plant, cultivate, and harvest the fruits and vegetables we depend on for our health and wellness.
In Maryland, migrant farmworkers leave their homes and families to travel great distances, often from Latin America and the Caribbean, to work in the agricultural sector. Their labor is essential to the success of our farms, yet their contributions are often overlooked.
