OUTREACH

Empowering community-driven solutions

We collect the facts so farmworkers and stakeholders can implement tangible change and improve health outcomes.

Fall 2024 community engagement is underway.

The RESPIRAR outreach team is working with the farmworker community throughout the Eastern Shore to engage with the study.

Outreach

Our team conducts extensive outreach with farmworkers and farmers throughout Maryland’s Eastern Shore, attends events to raise awareness and discuss respiratory health, and leads efforts to share our findings.

”I want farmworkers to know that they are not alone.”

Community outreach and engagement

We believe research participants, community-based organizations, and other sectors within the agricultural community are subject-matter experts in their own right and should help drive the outcomes that will be most beneficial and impactful.

We bring low-cost solutions to the table

Our team attends local outreach events to discuss respiratory health and introduce solutions. A favorite activity is building low-cost air filters.

Changing the narrative

The work does not stop once we have completed our research. We believe change should be driven by systemically collected research, and our team is committed to sharing our findings with stakeholders to drive meaningful and lasting change.
