Dr. Thurka Sangaramoorthy is Professor and Chair of the Department of Anthropology at American University.

Thurka is a globally recognized expert in community-engaged ethnographic research in the areas of global heath, migration, infectious disease, and environmental health disparities. She is the author of four books, including Landsapes of Care, which focuses on immigration and health on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

As co-investigator, Thurka supports community-engaged qualitative methods and analysis for the RESPIRAR Project.
