Devon is an associate professor at the University of Maryland’s School of Public Health’s Department of Global, Environmental, and Occupational Health, where Department Chair Amy Sapkota, calls the award “one of the most prestigious awards that an environmental health scientist can receive, and well-deserved by Dr. Payne-Sturges.”

Nominated by the American Public Health Association (APHA) Environment Section, Devon was “completely surprised and deeply, deeply honored.”

Devon speaks with student reporter Sumaya Abdel-Motagaly about her work in a blog featured on the School of Public Health’s website.
