Esther Rojas
Community Advisor
Esther Rojas brings a deep-rooted understanding of the challenges facing immigrant and migrant seasonal farmworkers. As a community advisory committee member, Esther serves as a bridge between the Eastern Shore community and the project, ensuring that the voices and needs of immigration and migrant farmworkers remain central to the RESPIRAR initiative. Her perspective and subject matter expertise support the development of effective strategies addressing respiratory health concerns among agricultural workers.
Esther is the Program Manager for the Migrant Clinicians Network at the Eastern Region Office in Salisbury. In her role, she coordinates and manages various community-based occupational and environmental health projects focused on increasing health equity among migrant, immigrant, and vulnerable populations in the United States and Puerto Rico. Since July 2021, Esther has worked closely with community-based organizations to provide technical assistance and capacity-building to community health workers serving Latino and Haitian communities on the Eastern Shore.
As the daughter of immigrants and raised in the region, Esther knows her community’s unique needs and vulnerabilities firsthand. Her connection to the Eastern Shore, coupled with her professional experience working closely with marginalized communities locally and nationally, fuels her passion for the RESPIRAR Project. She has witnessed the disproportionate health effects on immigrant and migrant farmworkers and is committed to advocating for their well-being.
Esther received her B.S. in Public Health from Salisbury University and a certificate in Community-Based Participatory Research from the University of Michigan in 2021.
